Capresso 259.03 H2O Plus Glass Water Kettle, Polished Chrome
Product Review Boil water quickly and quietly with this 1-1/2-quart glass water kettle, which lifts easily from its power base for graceful serving. The unit features German-made heat-resistant Schott glass with minimum and maximum markings for convenient filling, as well as a drip-free design. A gleaming stainless-steel dome, which is easy to clean, covers the concealed heating element. For added safety, the units "on/off" power switch with a blue indicator light automatically turns to "off" when the kettle is lifted from its power base or upon boiling. The kettle sits securely on its 360-degree swivel base, which nicely accommodates right- or left-handed users, plus offers cord storage for tidy countertops. Accenting the see-through glass is a polished-chrome finish on the hinged lid and generous handle, which also provides a slip-free, textured underside to ensure a secure grip. The 1500-watt water kettle measures 6-1/4 by 8 by 9 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty. Product Description A practical household item in a beautiful design! The Capresso cordless H2O Plus glass water kettle with auto shut-offs and illuminated blue operating light boils water fast, quietly and safethen shuts off automatically. A gleaming stainless steel dome which is easy to clean covers the concealed heating element. The German-made SCHOTT heat resistant glass has ounce and cup markings for easy filling. Reader Reviews I ordered this kettle specifically to avoid heating up water in plastic. However, this kettle emitted a foul chemical odor that also transferred to the water. I boiled it a few times plus tried the water/vinegar suggestion in the brochure but nothing seemed to help. I decided that I didn't want to take the risk of drinking these unknown chemicals so I'm returning it - it's not worth the risk. I can't figure out if it's coming from the "stainless steel" bulb (that feels like plastic to me if you tap on it) that covers the heating element or the plastic seal between the glass & the bulb. Plus the lid has a stong odor too & that is plastic covered in "stainless steel".
